Zante (Zakynthos) Holidays

On the eastern part of the Ionian Sea is the gorgeous Greek island of Zakynthos or Zante. The Venetians once called it ‘The Flower of the Orient’ for its picture-perfect countryside, spectacular shoreline and towering chalk-coloured cliffs overlooking the vast blue ocean. The island is easily accessible from Athens and there are also ferries crossing from neighbouring Killini and Kefalonia. Laganas town in the north has the some of the largest discos and nightclubs too, which serve up cheap drinks and pulsating music from international DJs. A resort of variety, holidays in Zante are also steeped in history and culture, with some of the best museums, including the Byzantine Museum and the Museum of Solomos, worth exploring – it really is a destination that suits all.
